Why is your life so exciting compared to mine (100% serious here)?
Please continue to amuse us with your stories!

BTW, I didn't realize you wanted your carte de sejour so badly and that you'd go to such lengths to get it. I got yours in the mail and have been using it as a metropass for the past three months.

Is the chest xray pocket-sized? If no, how rude!

Hi Sam! This post reminded me of our own experience with the medical visit, in a suburb northeast of Paris (I can’t remember the name). There are five of us, and you can imagine the chaos as each of the adults and kids got called for our various eye tests, chest x-rays, etc. My husband and I tried, in vain, to keep tabs on the kids, and especially to avoid leaving our 4 year old sitting alone out of our range of vision. Toward the end, reunited, we were all jammed into the office of a doctor who wanted to chat at length about being Jewish in France, while the kids fidgeted and complained.

I hope you succeed in getting your carte de sejour before you leave France, but meanwhile it sounds like the sejour itself is worthwhile.

Oh yea, well I love the glaciers! My new country has several fine specimens--hurrah!

Five different colors and highlighters is perhaps the most stressed part of the French education. In third grade my French teacher asked me to stay behind for lunch to practice my handwriting... I was so humiliated. French schools are all about the humiliation, handwriting, and pretty notes. :-D Thats why I'm not in France right now!

Sam, the humor of French bureaucracy is never-ending... If it wasn't really happening to you, I'd say "I love it!" Truth really is so much more entertaining than fiction.
Hope all is well, have fun :)
